Allergies/Sinusitis

Here's what the experts are saying:

Here's what our patients have to say:

Before my chiropractic care, I suffered with migraine headaches and sinus problems.  Working on a computer and talking on the phone all day can cause neck and shoulder pain, but having regular spinal adjustments helps me to be pain free. Since seeing Dr. Rea, my headaches are very few to none at all.  It also helps with the range of movement in my neck. ~ Stephanie D.

Arthritis

Here's what the experts are saying:

Sandra DeMaster remembers the early years of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) painfully well. “I never knew how painful anything could be until I got RA,” says DeMaster, a retired piano teacher who lives in Wausau, Wis.

Although medication did alleviate the pain, DeMaster didn’t like the way it made her feel. So on the advice of her daughter, she tried something different. She visited a chiropractor. Since experiencing almost immediate relief from chiropractic visits, DeMaster has seen her chiropractor regularly.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Here's what the experts are saying:

Davis et al. compared chiropractic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) to nonsurgical medical treatment. The chiropractic group used manipulation, ultrasound, and wrist supports while the medical group used wrist supports and ibuprofen. While both treatment groups improved significantly, the authors noted that chiropractic represents an alternative conservative treatment for CTS, especially for patients "who are unable to tolerate ibuprofen."

Energy / Fatigue

Here's what our patients have to say:

At first, I did not know what to expect.  Now that I look back, I am confident that coming here was the right decision.  My energy level has been boosted since the first couple of visits, and my headaches have nearly disappeared as well.  Varnville Chiropractic is the way to go! ~ Grant Y.

Foot Pain

Here's what our patients have to say:

Thirty years ago, I was a college athlete who thought little about how I abused my body. However, I soon found out that such physical abuse has lasting effects.  Soon I began to have trouble with my back, neck, and joints. Daily headaches and persistent back pain were the norm rather than the exception. After scheduling weekly chiropractic visits, I noticed the headaches subsided and the back pain became more manageable almost to the point of being non-existent. Chiropractic care has also helped alleviate foot pain that became common after sitting down and sleeping.  Thanks, Dr. Rea and staff, for restoring my quality of life and allowing me to enjoy life more. ~ Tommy K.

Headaches

Here's what our patients have to say:

I’ve always taken a headache or a backache as part of life.  After attending Dr. Rea’s stress management seminar at the Hampton District One Instructional Fair, I became a patient of Dr. Rea’s.  Angie, Amanda, and Dr. Rea are fantastic! They take time to explain my treatment plan.  In this 24/7 world, I really appreciate their time and level of care.

P.S. I have a lot more energy!  ~ Michelle A. :)

Chiropractic Cuts Blood Pressure: Study Finds Special 'Atlas Adjustment' Lowers Blood Pressure (click link below for article)

A special chiropractic adjustment can significantly lower high blood pressure, a placebo-controlled study suggests.

"This procedure has the effect of not one, but two blood-pressure medications given in combination," study leader George Bakris, MD, tells WebMD. "And it seems to be adverse-event free. We saw no side effects and no problems."

X-rays showed that the procedure realigned the Atlas vertebra -- the doughnut-like bone at the very top of the spine -- with the spine in the treated patients, but not in the sham-treated patients.

Compared to the sham-treated patients, those who got the real procedure saw an average 14 mm Hg greater drop in systolic blood pressure (the top number in a blood pressure count), and an average 8 mm Hg greater drop in diastolic blood pressure (the bottom blood pressure number).

Low Back Pain

Here's what our patients have to say:

When I came to see Dr. Rea, I had what he called lumbar disc degeneration and bone spurring. I was not able to walk without a walking stick. I had pain in my low back and running down my left leg. I did not have any energy, and I was always in pain with my legs and feet having tingling in them. After eleven visits, the pain has gone away. I just have a little tingling in my toes. I have returned to my normal routine of walking about one and a half miles a day, and I do not have to use a walking stick!

4 Treatments for Low Back Pain

Mehmet Oz, MD, host of The Dr. Oz Show, sorts out the best treatments for your aching back.

The research is positive on chiropractic treatment, physical therapy, and stress relief—they all help ease back pain. (As Paul McCormick says, with rare exceptions, surgery is unnecessary.) The key is to get moving again as soon as possible after the pain hits, and then make sure you take steps to prevent a return. I see low back pain as a warning about overall fitness: If you're active, your hips and back are flexible, your core strength is good, and you're coping well with the emotional challenges in your life, your back probably won't bother you. Overlook one of those areas, however, and your back will let you know. And while the emotional link to back pain is controversial, there's no question that stress can play a part in muscle tension, especially in the lower back and hips, leading to trouble.

Menstrual Problems

Migraine Headaches

Here's what the experts are saying:

One hundred and twenty-seven Migraine patients (at least one Migraine per month) were divided into two groups for comparison. Group 1 received chiropractic adjustments at specific vertebral subluxations determined by the treating practitioner; group 2 served as controls and received inactive treatment (electrical stimulation with no current delivered). Subjects receiving chiropractic adjustments reported substantial improvement in Migraine frequency, duration, disability, and medication use following two months of treatment. One in five participants reported a 90% reduction in Migraines, and half reported significant improvement in Migraine severity.

Are you tired of Migraine headaches ruining your day? With conventional over-the-counter medications proving less than effective (and often accompanied by dangerous side effects), it’s time to fight the pain from another angle. To find out more about the potential benefits of chiropractic care, schedule an appointment with your doctor of chiropractic.

Movement/Walking/Range of Motion

Here's what our patients have to say:

When I came to Dr. Rea, I had been through a lot of stress and a major move. My back was so out of alignment that I couldn’t move well and I was using a cane! A friend recommended Dr. Rea and said he’d had great results, so my dad drove me to the office. Even though I was in great pain, even the first treatment made a huge difference in my comfort level.  I’ve been coming back ever since (the past 4 years). I can’t fathom not getting a “tune-up” to keep healthy. I feel stronger and have a much greater range of motion and energy after a visit.  I take care of myself because health maintenance is so important. Dr. Rea and his staff are wonderful! ~ Bonnie F.

When I first came to Dr. Rea, I could hardly walk.  I had severe pain in my back and down my leg.  I was 47 years old and had never had chiropractic care.  Like many, I abused my body trying to do things I physically should not do.  I had to make two visits the first day and again the next one.  But Dr. Rea assured me it would get better with regular care.  I went from needing a crutch to walking around my house and crying from the pain to being able to move again pain free.  The clinic has taught me how to lift items properly and how to do physical jobs the correct way so I do not harm my body.  I highly recommend Dr. Rea and his staff to raise the quality of everyone’s life.  They listen, they teach, they share, and they heal.  You can always call on them with the assurance you will feel better both physically and emotionally after a visit.~Sherri B.

How Can Chiropractors Benefit Your Health? (click link below for article)

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/05/02/how-can-chiropractors-benefit-your-health/

You should consider seeing a chiropractor if you experience frequent pain in your back, neck or joints, as well as headaches. This is especially so if intense soreness follows accidents, household chores or prolonged periods of poor posture.

The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported that an integrated approach to health care -- including chiropractic care -- results in a 51.8 percent reduction in pharmaceutical costs and 43 percent fewer hospital admissions.

Plantar Fascitis

Here's what the experts are saying:

http://www.echiropractor.org/chiropractic-for-plantar-fasciitis/

Because of the risks of surgery and the side-effects of medications, patients with plantar fasciitis may want to explore using chiropractic care as an alternative treatment.  A chiropractor will check for proper alignment to make sure that a patient can walk correctly.  Often, chiropractors may recommend specialized orthotic inserts to “reduce or redistribute pressures on the foot”.  If the ankle and foot joints don’t move properly, a chiropractor can manipulate and mobilize these joints.  They can also address adjustments for the hips, knees, pelvis, and spine. Chiropractors can not only relieve acute pain, but they can work to prevent future issues.  Patients will likely be asked to alter their activities and exercises, as well as perform home treatments of “icing or massaging the arch of the feet”.7

Sleep Problems / Insomnia

Here's what our patients have to say:

I have suffered from lower back, shoulder, and neck pain.  After four months of care, I sleep better and find my pain is much less.  There were times I would walk in the office and feel twice my age; however, after getting regular care, I have found relief through chiropractic care that I didn’t know I could find. ~Francis M.

Sports Injuries

Here's what our patients have to say:

I have had back pain since a football injury in high school.  Over the last fifteen years, the pain has gotten a little worse as each year passed.  A few months ago, it had gotten to the point where I could hardly get out of bed in the mornings.  A friend referred me to Dr. Rea.  I didn’t know what to expect but was ready for a change.  I was made aware of condition through x-rays and other tests.   Seeing those results were an eye opener.  The past three weeks have been a big change for me as Dr. Rea has gotten my back in a lot better place.  I look forward to those adjustments every week~Doug J.
